FAQ
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
Only for embedding generation during indexing. Use OpenAI, Anthropic-compatible providers, Ollama locally, or bring your own vectors. Your key stays in ~/.orkai/.
Does my code get sent anywhere?
No. Parsing and storage are local. Embeddings may call your chosen provider's API (or Ollama on your machine). Indexed entities live in ~/.orkai/ on your disk.
How many devices can I use?
Trial: 1 device. Single-device lifetime ($49.99): 1 device. Three-device lifetime ($99): up to 3 personal machines (laptop, desktop, etc.).
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 7 days, full product access, 1 device, $0 checkout via Polar. When it expires, purchase single-device or three-device and run orkai activate <PAID_KEY>.
Can I use it with multiple projects?
Yes. Each indexed project gets its own category. Index as many repos as you want on that one licensed machine.
